US Formula E team Dragon Penske takes Antonio Giovinazzi as a driver for next season. On Tuesday it was announced that the Italian’s place in Formula 1 will be Alfa Romeo, from next year, will be completed by China’s Guanyu Zhou.
Italy’s Giovinazzi will leave Alfa Romeo at the end of the Formula 1 season. He didn’t have to wait long for a new challenge. A switch to Formula E is therefore a fact. The American Dragon Penske Autosport takes over the services of the current Alfa Romeo driver.

‘Can not wait’
“As soon as it was announced that I would not be in Formula 1 next year, I decided to participate in the Formula E World Championship,” Giovinazzi started. Kimi Raikonnen’s teammate only managed to finish in the top ten this season in Monaco. “I can’t wait to test my new electric car in Valence at the end of this month. We have an exciting year ahead of us, I will do my best to help the team succeed!”, he continues about the switch.
Money is leading
The Alfa Romeo driver is also not pleased with the working method in Formula 1. He previously said the following about this: “Formula 1 is emotion, talent, cars, risk, speed. But when money rules it can be merciless.” He is referring to the money that his replacement Zhou is taking with him. Former Sauber test driver Raffaele Marciello does not understand that outrage, he says via Twitter.
I don’t get why everyone is against @ gyzhou_33 At point every driver paid their seat, even Giovinazzi thanks to Gelael did F3/GP2. Me thanks to Ferrari I did F abarth/F3/GP2. there is nothing wrong to pay their seat. In 2/3 years if Zhou is slow someone will pay his seat. Easy

Formula 1-career
Giovinazzi is in his third Formula 1 season. He started with the Sauber team in 2017 as a test driver, but was allowed to fill in directly during the season opener. He also drove the race in China. After that, there was mainly test work on the program. In 2018 he started working full-time at Haas F1 to test and he did at Alfa Romeo a year later. In 2019, he was gearing up for a full season of racing with the team. That will come to an end at the end of this year.
