No Olympics for Giorgio Minisini. The 28-year-old Italian champion will not be part of the team artistic swimming in Paris. The decision was made by the national team director, Patrizia Giallombardo, who explained that “the mixed doubles (a specialty in which Minisini has won ten world championship medals and the same number of continental ones) is not in the Olympic program and that the regulation allows only 8 athletes to be called up plus a reserve for swimming the technical, free and acrobatic exercises”.

Minisini will instead be part of the team for the next ones European Championships in Belgrade (June 10-14). “I accept the decision. I understand the reasons that lead the technical director Giallombardo to make this choice – the words of Minisini -. I will continue to work to improve. I remain available to the national team. The next objective is to confirm myself at the European championships, win and nourish the dreams of mine and of other artistic swimmers.”
