This year there was a slight regression that ultimately resulted in Estephan’s end. CEO Pavel Hynek later admitted that the club expected more from his performances and the coaches didn’t count on him.

Will he find his former form in the land of a thousand lakes? He is the fourth Canadian player on the roster of his new employer, the management introduced him together with defender Nicholas Welsh.

“We had a clear goal to find centers. We firmly believe that he can be our leader,” comments sports manager Mikko Viitanen on the arrival.

“I know that Finland is a great country, I’m really looking forward to going there. I like to create a game, that’s my strength. I want to score points and help the team win,” adds Estephan.

In the Finnish league, he will meet his Lithuanian teammate Šimon Stránský, who has strengthened Ilves Tampere. Another key attacker of the chemists, Patrik Zdráhal, then headed to Sweden.
