Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani made a fateful decision. He announced in an interview published today that he plans to retire in the next two to three years, Reuters reported.
Armani is 90 years old and until now has remained silent on the subject of who will succeed the company he founded in 1975 and runs directly to this day.
“I can give myself another two or three years at the head of the company. No more, it will bring negatives,” Armani told Corriere della Sera.
” but at the moment I don’t see” options for their inclusion.
Armani has no children to succeed him at the company, and there has long been speculation about the long-term future of the Armani empire, as well as whether it will be possible to preserve its much-cherished independence in an industry dominated by conglomerates such as LVMH. Ash and Kering.
Armani told Corriere della Sera that he had “created something like a structure, a project, a protocol” to manage his departure from the company, but gave no details.
Last year, Reuters reported on a document filed with a notary in Milan that contained future management principles for those who inherit the company, and another detailing a plan to save jobs at the company.
Armani’s heirs are expected to be his sister, three other family members who work at his company, his longtime associate and partner Pantaleo dell’Orco and a charitable foundation.
