Gina Carano Sues Disney | MovieZine

“The Mandalorian” actor was fired by Disney after a series of controversial posts on social media. Now she returns three years later with a lawsuit sponsored by Elon Musk.

For two seasons played Gina Carano the role of the rebel soldier and later the sheriff Cara Dune in “The Mandalorian”, and was one of the most prominent faces of the series. But in February 2021 she had to leave the character, the series and the galaxy after a long period of writing controversial posts on social media. Among other things, she engaged in highlighting pronouns on social media, criticized mouth guards as protection against the Corona virus and compared the situation of Republicans in the United States to being a Jew in Nazi Germany.

Carano also didn’t just get the kick from “The Mandalorian” – the “Rangers of the New Republic” series, which was rumored to be a spinoff with Cara Dune in focus, was scrapped. Now, three years later, Carano has decided to sue Disney for discrimination and wrongful dismissal. She has Elon Musk to help herwho previously promised to cover the legal costs of anyone who feels they have been discriminated against because of activity on Twitter, now X, which he owns.

Carano has made a long statement on X, and writes, among other things, that she is extremely grateful to receive support from Musk and X:

In the lawsuit, Carano claims at least 75,000 dollars, plus additional monetary compensation for losing “Rangers of the New Republic,” as well as getting to return to her role as Cara Dune in future Star Wars projects. She also claims that Disney treated her negatively, when Pedro Pascal, who plays the main role in “The Mandalorian” also expressed political views in strong terms on social media (he compared Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler), but did not suffer any consequences.

Tech magnate and X owner Elon Musk is sponsoring Gina Carano’s lawsuit.

The lawsuit also alleges that Carano was told on multiple occasions by Disney to apologize for what she expressed on social media, and that at one point she was called to a meeting with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and a group of LGBTQ employees, which she refused to attend on. After that, she is said to have been dismissed.

Disney and Lucasfilm have not commented on the situation at the time of writing. A not too far-fetched guess is that they will not share Carano’s view of the situation.
