Last weekend a traditional competition was held in the capital of the Coquimbo region, where the Rancagua natives achieved excellent results.

A few days ago, the GIMVAR Club from Rancagua traveled to the Coquimbo region to participate in the traditional artistic gymnastics tournament, Copa La Serena, where the results were positive for the team from the regional capital.

There, in the advanced categories level 1 and level 2, as well as in the junior categories, the delegation won several medals and was also national champion thanks to these results, positioning itself as one of the best men’s gymnastics clubs in the country. Likewise, GIMVAR was also champion in the formative category, and runners-up in Ac1.

Regarding this performance, Gaspar Rojas was third in the sum of the apparatus in the aforementioned Ac1 series, harvesting four medals there.

In advanced level 1, Elías Araya was first in the All Around, with four medals. In addition, Roberto Acevedo was sixth along with Daniel Moreno, and Martín Lara was eighth.

Meanwhile, in level 2, Maximiliano de la Rosa and Maximiliano Ibarra finished in fourth and sixth place respectively, both winning several individual medals.

In the youth category, Agustín Espinoza was once again the national champion. He also won gold medals in the Vault, Floor and Bars; and silver in the Pommel and Rings, plus a Bronze in the Parallel Bars.

“It was an excellent tournament for our Gimvar Club, we hope that in future events we will do well, as we have this time,” said the club’s coach, Oscar Espinoza.

Finally, Espinoza stressed that “now we have the most important challenge for our club this year. On September 29 at the CAR, nine of our gymnasts will compete for a spot in the South American Artistic Gymnastics Championship that will take place in Asunción, Paraguay.”
