GIMV Welcomes WorxInvest as New Reference Shareholder, Impressive Investment Signals Confidence

The Antwerp private equity company now has a new reference shareholder, WorxInvest, who paid more for its GIMV shares than their current share price. A signal of confidence.

This is a page that is turning in the history of GIMV, even if it is not really a surprise. But first it is an opportunity to return to the name of this Antwerp company founded almost 44 years ago: it is the acronym – in Flemish – of “Gewestelijke Investeringsmaatschappij voor Vlaanderen”, or “Regional Company investment of Flanders”, the region of northern Belgium.

Indeed, if the group has always focused on investment capital, it was founded in 1980 by the Belgian local authority, which was its sole owner for a long time. It was only in 1997 that GIMV entered the Brussels Stock Exchange, and Flanders began its exit. Even if the region remained the largest shareholder through the VPM holding company, which at the latest news held nearly 28% of the capital.
