When Gijs Rademaker left AvroTros a few months ago, he lacked “respect” for the years he worked for the broadcaster. He told this on Sunday in the De Perstribune program on NPO Radio 1. The 44-year-old Rademaker switched to RTL in December to set up the RTL Nieuwspanel.
,,They were not amused. They responded in a very business-like manner,” says Rademaker (44) about how people reacted when he quit his job. The pollster says that until his departure two months later, he was no longer on the channel or on the editorial board One today has been. “That was not the intention. I had to stay away for two months. I spent two months at home.”
The pollster says she doesn’t want to be pitiful about that, ‘but all I’m saying is: I would have liked to say goodbye to each other with more respect. Because I also worked there for 18 years with great pleasure and love,’ he says. “It was done overnight and I never heard from them again.”
AvroTros
In December, Rademaker, until then associated with the One today Opinion panel, to switch. “In their view, I understand that they think: he will do the same for the competitor. But that went very well,” he says. “I tried to get everything out. But AvroTros told myself months earlier that they saw no expansion for me.”
In response, AvroTros informed ANP on Sunday that Rademaker’s story is correct. “Since Gijs Rademaker was going to set up a similar panel at another news organization, we have indeed chosen to no longer collaborate with each other after his termination. That does not alter the fact that we look back on our collaboration with great pleasure and gratitude.”
