André-Pierre Gignac arrived in Mexico in 2015 to join Liga MX side Tigres UANL and since then he hasn’t stopped scoring goals and winning titles. The 35-year-old has become the top scorer in the history of Tigres surpassing Tomas Boy (139) who held the record for many years. The French striker has scored 167 goals in 248 appearances in all competitions for Tigres since 2015. He has won the Liga MX, Copa MX, CONCACAF Champions League and the only trophy he couldn’t lift with the Mexican side was the Copa Libertadores when Tigres lost to River Plate in the 2015 final.
After scoring the game winning goal in the 2020 Concachampions, André-Pierre Gignac became the top scorer in the history of the competition with 14 goals in 22 appearances. Tigres beat LAFC 2-1 in the final to win their first title in their history.
In this years’ tournament, he scored 6 goals in 4 games to win the Golden Boot, the Most Valuable Player and the Fair Play award and now he will lead Tigres to the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup tournament that is set to start in February.
