In recent years, food hygiene terrorism has continued in Japan. Following saliva on conveyor belt sushi or intentionally contaminating tableware, this time there was even an incident where disinfectant was sprayed on sushi.
According to an online community in Japan on the 26th, a terrorism video that occurred at a store believed to be Japan’s largest conveyor belt sushi chain store, Sushiro, has recently spread through social networking services (SNS). It was a video of a man who appeared to be a student laughing as he sprayed a spray-type disinfectant on sushi rolls on a rail while eating.
The boy picked up a spray bottle that was lying on the table and first sprayed it over the rotating rails and signage. Then she sprayed disinfectant on the sushi that customers were eating. Sushiro is providing alcohol disinfectant to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As the parfait in the new menu notice board seen in the video was reported as a limited menu that was sold for a month in November last year, it is believed that this terrorism also occurred at that time.
As the video spread rapidly, the male student’s identity was also revealed. The male student then posted an apology on his SNS. However, Japanese netizens point out that there is no sincerity in the apology. This is because it has been argued that if you read only the first letter of the sentences in the apology letter, you will get a hidden message that reads, “It’s really boring.”
Food & Life Company (F&LC), which operates Sushiro, issued a statement on the 24th and warned, “We have completed a police investigation in relation to the SNS video,” and “plan to take strict action against both civil and criminal cases.” It is known that at the site where the attack occurred, instead of food, a plate topped with a picture of sushi was placed on a turntable.
Previously, in January, Sushiro shared a filmed copy online after a man did a nuisance by spitting on a soy sauce container, water cup, and sushi. As a result, F&LC’s market cap at one point evaporated by 160 billion won. The man is said to have dropped out of school when his identity was revealed online. After the incident, accusatory phone calls flooded into the school.
