Of course, I also have my requirements and wishes for my next phone and for my next camera. For me as a techie and nerd and so on, these are mainly technical requirements and wishes. I have some money for that, but not too much.

What do you think such a camera that you want costs in a device. Financially that may cost as much as 2 or perhaps 3 of the cameras currently used. But your desired camera also happens to be a bit bigger. That then makes the thickness of the device larger. One person may think that a thicker battery could be used, but the other would say: Thinner is better, so we don’t do it.

Another ‘better’ is that of marketing. Marketing also has something to say for the cheaper devices. For example, that a device with 3 cameras sells better than an otherwise similar device with 1 camera.

Think back to the pixel race: My first digicam had a 2 megapixel censor. The next 4 and 10 megapixels. In the beginning, more pixels were really better. My current camera is something like 12 or 20 megapixels. In the meantime, I don’t have to get bigger because the files are getting bigger and the processing time takes longer. As far as I’m concerned, the pixel race lingers on that 12 to 20 MPixel.
