Gigared has chosen Appear as a platform for the distribution of high definition content throughout the country. The Argentine telecommunications operator has thus increased the number of high definition signals for its pay television service.
All Gigared customers have access to high definition content, even at their basic subscription level, without the need for an STB. However, Gigared has the ambition to increase its presence in Argentina, and needed a technology partner that could support the delivery of more HD channels to more subscribers.
To do this, and to migrate Gigared’s subscribers from analogue to digital television services, he needed a technology provider that was capable of supporting Gigared’s DVB-C headend with ISDB-T modulation.
Gigared has deployed the X and XC platforms of Appear to support the provision of digital television services. Gigared has deployed Appear’s X20 mux and XC5000 ISDB-T modulator at its central headend, as well as at two remote locations. Gigared selected Appear’s technology for its interoperability with ISDB-T for cable.

We did not want our customers to have to configure and install STBs, rather we wanted to provide them with a seamless experience. But it can be difficult to find the right support for cable ISDB-T implementations, as many TVs on the market are simply not compatible. “

Another reason Gigared selected Appear was because it had an ISDB-T modulator card compatible with the chassis that Gigared had in production. Appear’s ISDB-T modulator card offers the highest density available on the market.

However, as a TV provider, it is difficult to navigate different technology standards and ensure performance and reliability. ‘
