An underwater mountain has been discovered deep in the Pacific Ocean, specifically off the coast of Guatemala. This is according to the organization NOOA Ocean Exploration CNN.
The mountain is described as gigantic, and is almost twice as high as the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
It “rises” 1,600 meters above the seabed, but is also 2,400 meters below sea level, according to CNN.
– That such a gigantic underwater mountain could have been hidden from humanity until now shows how much we still have to discover, says researcher Jyotika Virmani to CNN.
It is described as the remains of a volcano, which is no longer active.
