“Gigantic Otomi Doll ‘Lelé’ Promotes Mexican Culture and Tourism in New York City”

He tourist neighborhood of Times Square in New York received this Thursday “Lelé” a gigantic doll from the ancient Otomi culture, and an icon of Mexicowhich for three days will promote his native state of Querétaro as a tourist destination.

Wearing her white skirt, pink blouse, long braids and crown of colored ribbons, typical garments for the women of the municipality of Amealco where she was born, Lelé, who has her own park in Mexico, arrived in New York from Philadelphia and Denver and then it will go to Chicago, as part of the campaign launched this year “#LeléPorElMundo”.

The diplomacy campaign, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Government of Querétaro, has the purpose of promoting the cultural manifestations and traditions of the Mexican communities, as well as their ethnic and linguistic diversity, in the international arena.
