A colossal asteroid the size of a skyscraper is flying past Earth today. According to NASA, the gigantic boulder is between 210 and 480 meters tall – comparable to the size of the Empire State Building in New York.
Asteroid will pass Earth again in 2032
The asteroid will pass Earth at a distance of about 2.8 million kilometers. Although this is considered a relatively small distance by cosmic standards, it is seven times as far from Earth as the Moon. The asteroid, which was discovered for the first time in 2008 and is therefore named 2008 OS7, will not only pay us this one visit. It will fly past Earth again in 2032, but then at a significantly greater distance of more than 72 million
kilometers.
