In a letter sent on July 14 to the Order of Pharmacists (facsimile below), the Directorate of Medicines and Pharmacy (DMP), under the Ministry of Health, announces ” the batch recall of the reagent for in vitro diagnostic use Gigalab Covid-19 Ag Gold Salive« .
“Following complaints concerning this reagent, inspection missions were carried out with pharmacies and pharmaceutical wholesale distributors”, reads the document.
“Indeed, it was found that the reagent for in vitro diagnostic use Gigalab Covid-19 Ag Gold Salive of the Gigalab establishment, was put on sale in pharmacies through pharmaceutical wholesale distributors, and this, without authorization from the Ministry of Health ”.
“As a result, the Ministry of Health ordered the recall without delay du lot 2101S701-01/2023 of the reagent ”in question.
Recall that the sale in pharmacies of these saliva tests has been denounced by biologists.
Joined by us, a source close to the file tells us that “it is a response from the DMP to biologists, pending the release of the protocol for the sale of these self-tests in pharmacies ”. If this explanation is confirmed, it is therefore not a definitive withdrawal.
These remarks thus confirm what Saâdia Moutawakil, president of the Southern Pharmacists Council, told us in a previous article: “coordination with the Ministry of Health is important, in order to know the process to follow to support the sale of these products. kits, i.e. the protocol after performing the test. For example, if it turns out to be positive, it must be confirmed by a PCR test ”, and possibly be confined….
