Gigabyte and Inno3D’s Innovative Solution for Graphics Card Power Connector Placement

Why didn’t someone think of this before? Power really doesn’t have to stick out of the side like an arrow out of a Saracen’s ass. Just put a little thought into PCB design.

And so the heads at Gigabyte (and Inno3D) put their heads together and brainstormed to find that the power connector could be positioned differently. The Windforce edition, originally over three and a half slots thick, came on the block. On the back of the card, the heatsink is now cut out and the power connector is hidden in that spot, which now lines up the electrical twine nicely with the card. This eliminates the bending of the cables at the connector and the cabling will look a hair better.

Interestingly, Gigabyte didn’t announce this redesign with any fanfare, but simply placed the card pretty quietly on the website alongside the other editions. The GPU is even already on sale and some guys in China have already snagged samples.

Inno3D did something similar with the AXGaming edition cards, specifically with the RTX 4070 and 4060 Ti models. The difference there is that the power supply is turned towards the motherboard and hidden under a removable cover.

This idea is also good, but if the connector will be too close to the PCIe slot, the cable will have to be bent directly at the board and pulled through the designated grommets of the case. If the connector was on the PCB all the way behind the motherboard, it would probably be perfect.

As usual, if you want graphics, just grind on CZC
