Heidelberg. (lifted) The Heidelberg residents will not have to do without the scent of roasted almonds or the limited mulled wine cup this year. Because sold from the beginning of December “Heidelberg Marketing” Gift sets – and thus practically a Christmas market to take away.
“Heidelberg Marketing” has ordered 20,000 mulled wine cups labeled “Heidelberg Christmas Market 2020” and they will be delivered next week. Until the very end, the team around managing director Mathias Schiemer hoped that the Advent hustle and bustle between Karls- and Bismarckplatz could still take place in this extraordinary year of the corona pandemic. When the number of infections rose and that made the Christmas market impossible, necessity was made a virtue.
Shortly before St. Nicholas’ Day, on December 4th and 5th, a “Drive In” will be set up on Neckarmünzplatz, where the gift sets can be bought. This includes a 2020 and a neutral mulled wine cup, a bottle of original Heidelberg Christmas market mulled wine from the Adam Müller winery as well as a bag of roasted almonds and gastric bread. Mathias Schiemer is convinced that “this will certainly please many collectors. Because the cups have always been a popular souvenir from the Heidelberg Christmas market. Above all, however, Schiemer and his team from” Heidelberg Marketing “want the campaign from the Support the corona crisis-ridden Heidelberg showmen. They bought the almonds and stomach bread from them. The showmen not only receive three euros for the sweets for each gift set sold, but also three euros as a donation.
The Christmas market sets for just under 20 euros will also be available from December 6th: in the Galeria Kaufhof and some Rewe markets. Schiemer: “Some companies have already placed orders with us – as gifts for their customers.”
