Gifhorn District Court opens insolvency proceedings over the assets of HELMA Ferienimmobilien GmbH. Restructuring expert Manuel Sack appointed as insolvency administrator

Lehrte, September 2, 2024. On September 1, 2024, the Gifhorn District Court opened insolvency proceedings against HELMA Ferienimmobilien GmbH. The court appointed attorney Manuel Sack from the nationwide law firm Brinkmann & Partner as insolvency administrator.

Restructuring expert Manuel Sack says: “The company will continue to operate in the proceedings that have been initiated and the individual projects will be further developed. The structured, international investor process that was already started in the preliminary proceedings will be continued; there are several interested parties for HELMA Ferienimmobilien.”

Particular attention is being paid to by far the most important project in the portfolio, the OstseeResort Olpenitz, which HELMA Ferienimmobilien has largely developed and in which the company still holds considerable land areas – mostly in the immediate beach and waterfront location. The effects of the storm surge of the century in October 2023 caused some serious damage to the resort’s structural safety systems. In order to avoid much greater consequential damage, the first step is to carry out the urgently required renovation work on the piers together with the owners of the directly affected properties.

As part of the proceedings, the insolvency administration has developed a concept to safeguard and further develop the resort’s operations, involving all owners, which, in a second step, envisages the establishment of a professional operating company.
