Today, on the delegation of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office for Campania of the Court of Auditors, the soldiers of the Economic-Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza of Napoli have served an invitation to deduce at the Giffoni Experience Autonomous Bodyin the person of President for the time being (and on his own) and of general manager e di two other subjectsheld responsible for having caused treasury damage to 468.908 euro.
In particular, the outcome of the investigations conducted revealed an undue amount use of public funding from community sources and managed by the Campania Regionfor the execution of the movement service of guests and jurors in the editions of the film festival, from 2016 to 2022, through certifications of regular execution of thetransport service contractresulting, following the aforementioned investigation, to be non-compliant.
The service in question, in fact, was awarded, in those years, to the same company that, at the timehad neither a fleet of vehicles nor an adequate number of employees to manage the contracted service. Furthermore, for some years the service was guaranteed with cars made available free of charge by the sponsors and not by the entrusted company (which at most provided the drivers).
The damage reported also derives from expenses incurred by the organization for the escort service through buses that did not perform the service because they were not available to the company in charge, but were registered in the name of other subjects or were of an unsuitable type. The alleged perpetrators will now be able to examine all the sources of evidence indicated on the basis of the complaint formulated, deposit their deductions and any documents, or request to be heard by the proceeding Judicial Accounting Authority.
The institution’s response
«The Giffoni Experience Autonomous Body – we read in the note – in reference to the press release issued today by the Financial Police of Naples, specifies the following: the Court of Auditors has mandated the Financial Police of Naples to carry out an inspection for transport services in the years 2016-2022. We have already made the personnel, records and documents requested available, responding to their concerns with wide availability. This morning we were exclusively notified of an invitation to deduce with which the Court of Auditors requests our counter-arguments within 45 days. We are sure to clarify, together with our lawyers, our position, dispelling any doubts. We are absolutely confident and certain that the documents we will produce will clarify the situation and any doubts to the Accounting Judicial Authority».
