Gießen district: hysteria about mysterious sprinters – police express themselves after sighting

A sprinter caused some excitement in the Gießen district on Thursday (June 10th, 2021). The police are now commenting on the case.

Lich – On Thursday (June 10th, 2021) a message from the eastern district was shared umpteen times on Facebook and in WhatsApp groups: Allegedly, men from a Sprinter with Bulgarian license plate observed horses in Langsdorf. The vehicle would belong to a meat company, the police would ask for a report should this or other vehicles show up.

The police press office was surprised at the call. There was only a call to the Grünberg police with a reference to a suspicious vehicle. What the men did in Langsdorf is not known – it could also have been a break.

News from Lich: Police in Gießen advise against sharing unauthorized “searches”

The police generally think little of unauthorized searches on Facebook and WhatsApp. On the one hand, these can hinder ongoing investigative work and warn offenders. However, it is not uncommon for people to be suspected and pillory online who have done nothing at all. Search calls are therefore a matter for the police. Anyone who observes something suspicious should “call the police immediately, but not just share it on Facebook”.
