Vice presidential candidate number 2, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, visited the Albaghdadi Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), Karawang, West Java. Gibran’s arrival was welcomed directly by the head of the Islamic boarding school, Kiai Junaedi Al Baghdadi.
Monitoring detikcom at the location, Saturday (9/12/2023), Gibran arrived at the Islamic boarding school at around 22.30 WIB. Apart from Gibran, you can also see Minister of Investment/BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia and former Army Chief of Staff Dudung Abdurachman who are already at the Islamic boarding school.
Gibran visited the Albaghdadi Islamic Boarding School to take part in a series of routine Saturday evening recitation events with the Manaqib congregation. Gibran also held a closed meeting with Kiai Junaedi, Bahlil Lahadalia and Dudung Abdurachman as well as other boarding school administrators.
After the meeting, Kiai Junaedi expressed his support for Gibran as a young person for Indonesia’s future. He hopes that Gibran can realize social justice for all Indonesian people.
“The younger generation is for the future of the nation. Old milestones, the younger generation. So I support him as a young person, the young generation for Indonesia in the future,” said Kiai Junaedi at the Albaghdadi Islamic Boarding School.
“My hope is that through him, Indonesia will become something that provides a beacon for the world, it must be possible. My hope is that he can realize the ideals of the founding fathers of the nation, can realize the ideals of Pancasila, social justice for all Indonesian people. That is our hope,” he added.
Kiai Junaedi explained that Islamic boarding schools are places where people gather to pray. He said that his party was praying and providing support to Gibran in the 2024 presidential election.
“Islamic boarding schools are places for prayer. What does it mean to get support if you don’t get prayer? When you pray, you automatically (give support). If you pray for someone, you have to support that person,” said Kiai Junaedi.
On the same occasion, Gibran expressed his gratitude for the prayers and blessings from Kiai Junaedi and all boarding school administrators. Gibran has not explained in detail the contents of his meeting with Kiai Junaedi.
“Later, OK? Let’s just recite the Koran first. Thank you, thank you (for the prayers),” said Gibran.
