Gibran Rakabuming Raka Emerges as Potential Presidential Candidate for 2024 Election

Jakarta

A number of youths who are members of the GEBRAKAN volunteers (Gibran Victory Movement) declared the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Rakaas a presidential candidate (candidate) in 2024 presidential election. GEBRAKAN volunteers believe that the eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is fit to hold the baton for national leadership through the 2024 presidential election.

The coordinator of GEBRAKAN, Firosya Shalati, emphasized that Gibran’s presence in the national political arena is very important. Because, he said, the number of potential voters for the 2024 election are youth and millennials.

“So it is only natural that we hope that young people and millennials will have representatives in the 2024 Presidential Election,” said Firosya in a written statement, Saturday (26/8/2023).

Sosa, Firosya Shalati’s nickname, explained that Gibran also represents the potential of Indonesian youth. According to him, Gibran’s leadership style has been proven during his tenure as mayor of Solo.

He believes Gibran will be able to realize the path to Indonesia’s vision, namely Indonesia Gold 2045, where Indonesia will experience a golden age in 2045. At that time, Indonesia will be 100 years old, aka one century.

“We know, as stated by the President, that going forward is the only golden opportunity for Indonesia to become a developed country. And to make this happen, a person who is brave, resolute and has the intellectual and physical stamina is required to make breakthroughs, as well as work national, regional and international politics.

Regarding who Gibran will be paired with, Sosa believes that this will not be a problem. For GEBRAKAN volunteers, he said, the presidential candidate in the upcoming 2024 elections must be a youth and that figure is Gibran.

“Because of this golden opportunity, we feel challenged to prove that Indonesia is capable of becoming a world beacon as our Founding Father dreamed of,” he said.

On the other hand, Sosa regretted that currently the rights to democracy and politics are still being emasculated, namely the regulation on the age limit for presidential and cawapres candidates.

“We hope that the country will give the youth the right to respond to the challenges of the times, to extend the baton of national leadership, and to encourage and provide opportunities for progressive, revolutionary youth who are capable of shaking the world,” he stressed.
