Vice presidential candidate number 2 Gibran Rakabuming said there had been no special preparations for vice presidential debate. He said that the third debate had not yet been held.
“Yes, there are no special preparations yet, I pray that it goes smoothly. We haven’t even had a presidential candidate debate yet,” said Gibran to journalists in Cirebon, Saturday (6/1/2024).
Gibran also responded to KPU regulations which state that abbreviations must be explained during debates. He admitted that he would follow these rules.
“I just follow the KPU rules, yesterday I explained what it means. I follow the KPU rules,” he said.

He then joked that during the debate, he would be invited to be scanned using an X-ray. According to him, this was done so that Roy Suryo was satisfied.
“Later, please, before I go on stage, I’ll have an X-ray or something, so I can check, so that Uncle Roy Suryo is satisfied,” he said.
As is known, seen by detikcom on his X account, Roy Suryo asked the KPU to treat all debate participants fairly. Roy said that Gibran used 3 tools during the debate, including clip ons, hand held and earphones.
“Yesterday I already thought, to avoid cheating, the KPU should be fair next time. Why does number 2 use 3 (three) mics at once: 1. Clip-on, 2. Hand-held & 3. Head-set? What’s the point? “are there earphones? Who can feed into their ears? Why are the other two candidates different? Ambyar,” wrote Roy Suryo. EYD has been perfected.
Roy Suryo’s tweet was denied by KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy’ari. “Spontaneous debate, it is impossible to be dictated, listen to whispers or read cheat sheets. Roy Suryo is indeed a slanderer,” said Hasyim in his statement quoted last Sunday (24/12).
Hasyim explained that all vice presidential candidates use the same 3 microphones. This is to anticipate if one of the microphones is not working.
“All vice presidential candidates use the same equipment. All vice presidential candidates use 3 mics in case the mic goes out. Not an ear feeder. It’s a mic that is attached to the cheek and attached to the ear,” he said.
