Gibran Cak Nun’s response to Pharaoh: relaxed, family not offended

The eldest son of Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) Gibran Rakabuming Raka admitted that he was not offended by the words of Emha Ainun Nadjib or Cak Nun who said his father was like the ruler of ancient Egypt, Pharaoh.

According to the Mayor of Solo, his family was not offended by the words of the cleric cum humanist.

“I’m relaxed, not offended, my family is not offended. Relax wae (only),” Gibran told reporters at the Solo City Hall, Wednesday (18/1).

He also admitted that he heard that Cak Nun had also apologized to all those who were “splashed” by this statement. Personally, Gibran admitted that he had forgiven Cak Nun.

Apparently already (I seem to have) apologized, all right. Everyone is forgiven,” he said.

Gibran also admitted that he would not report Cak Nun to the authorities for this statement.

It is okay to report little by little, as if you have work to do(no need to report to the police a little bit, as if you have nothing to do),” said Gibran.

Previously, Cak Nun’s name was viral and trending on Twitter because a clip of his lecture video called Jokowi like Pharaoh and the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan as Haman.

After the video spread and went viral, Cak Nun admitted that he got stuck when he said that.

“I was given an extraordinary test by God, silently (quietly) I’m going to talk about Pharaoh. And that hit me,” said Cak Nun.

Cak Nun also apologized for that statement. Cak Nun’s apology conveyed through a video entitled ‘Mbah Nun Kesambet’ which was uploaded on the YouTube channel CakNun.comTuesday (17/1) evening.

“I apologize to all those who were splashed out, became uncomfortable or suffered, or became whatever my words were,” said Cak Nun.

Cak Nun said that he also apologized to his family because he didn’t think about the consequences of what he said at that time. He felt he had violated his own teachings.
