Giants safety Jason Pinnock was ejected from the field in the second half of Sunday’s wildcard victory over the Vikings after suffering an injury during a kickoff return at US Bank Stadium in Minnesota.
Pinnock, a second-year pro, appeared to take a hit down the middle while making a tackle. He sat as he was carried off the pitch. Head coach Brian Daboll and “the rest of the defense was there as he [Pinnock] went on the cart, ” par The Athletic.
He was ruled out for the remainder of the game. Daboll told reporters after the match that Pinnock was in a local hospital with an abdominal injury.
Pinnock was originally drafted in the fifth round by the Jets in 2021. He was waived in August 2022 and was claimed on waivers by the Giants shortly thereafter.
The Giants eliminated the Vikings, 31-24, and will face the top-seeded Eagles next weekend in Philadelphia in the Divisional Round.
