A new statue was unveiled near the Brooklyn Bridge in NYCUnited States, as a celebration of the impact of rapper Christopher Wallace, better known by the nicknames of Biggie Small or Famous BIG

The statue was designed by the New York artist, Sherwin Banfield, and was built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip hopi.e. next year. He says he wanted people to encounter a majestic monument and be greeted by two essential human qualities: “voice through a microphone and love through a heart”.

Christopher Wallace was born in the city of Brooklyn, New York, on May 21, 1972, in a house of humble origins. His mother handled his upbringing as a single parent, doing a great job of instilling in her son a love of arts and studies from an early age. However, the violent nature of the neighborhood they lived in ended up corrupting the rapper during his teenage years in various ways.

He lived for a time as a drug dealer, eventually being arrested on a weapons charge in 1989 and sentenced to five years probation. Subsequently, he decided to pursue a career in music thanks to the encouragement of his colleagues Jay-Z and Busta Rhymes. His poetic imagery painted rap music with emotional details of the lifestyle of the streets, full of scenes of violence, self-hatred and more.

His debut album Ready to Die (1994) it immediately became one of the most acclaimed and important materials in the history of the genre. A concept album that shows us its protagonist interacting with musical motifs and soundscapes from his birth to his decision to commit suicide.
