Giant pumpkin weighing 2,500 pounds breaks the New York record – NBC New York

NEW YOR – A New York farmer just set state and national records after harvesting a giant pumpkin at an Eric County farm during their annual pumpkin weighing contest.

The squash, grown by Scott Andrusz of Williamsville, weighed 2,554 pounds and is about the size of a small vehicle.

The amazing pumpkin was on display at the October 1st event at the Great Pumpkin Farm. According to the farm, Andrusz hoped to break the state record, but he also broke the national record.

This isn’t the first time Great Pumpkin Farm has made history. He saw the first pumpkin over £ 1,000 during his 1996 Autumn Festival and that earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records.

Since then, he has seen pumpkins more than double the weight, like Andrusz’s.

If you want to see for yourself, the record-breaking pumpkin will be on display at The Great Pumpkin Farm until October 16. Find out more here.
