The winners of the Amstel Gold Race, Michal Kwiatkowski and Maria Cavalli, received a huge beer glass with the Amstel logo as a trophy last spring. “The rules of the advertising code are that an alcohol producer may not advertise by displaying a drink glass that is larger than twice the standard glass,” says the Advertising Code Committee. “Displaying huge drinking glasses is understood as portraying excessive or otherwise irresponsible consumption.”
