“Pass it, people. What do we give you?” are the words with which this food business welcomes its hungry, but very hungry customers, since the options they offer are not only big, but gigantic. Called ‘Huaraches Meza Mendoza’ and gained huge popularity for appearing in the Netflix series ‘Divine Gluttony’.

How did the idea of these 6 kg huaraches come about?
Alejandro Mezawho is one of the managers of the family business, assures that at first they prepared smaller sandals and the people who visited them could eat up to three, or sometimes the diners asked them to have a lot of meat in their preparation, but the huarache was very small.
“So what do we do? Well, something bigger, ”says Meza for Netflix.
When starting to create larger sandals, Alejandro mentions that people would go to the store and ask for the combination of egg (7 pieces) with sausage (450 grams)but before eating them they took a selfie for their social networks.
This is how the giant sandalsbut without a doubt the biggest one that they prepare is that of 6 kg who decided to call ‘the poor boy’ which, Alejandro comments, “it’s like a cake”. In order to prepare it, the Meza family had to have a special tortilla maker that he was able to create the right size tortilla to hold all the ingredients.

Alejandro Meza comments for ‘La Divina Gula’ that he wears 12 years in the business, and that since then have gained great popularity, which has led the whole family, in the words of the narrator of the series, to be “huarache celebrities”.
Although you can try to eat a huarache of this size by yourself, it can be very difficult (perhaps impossible) even if you are hungry, so the Meza Mata family invites you to bring friends or family to share a 6 kg. Even the business owners say that so far there has not been a diner that ends alone one of these giant delicacies.
