AC Milan News – Atalanta head coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, firmly stated his belief that AC Milan did nothing wrong by recruiting Charles De Ketelaere. He assured that De Ketelaere would get “maximum trust.”
The Belgian playmaker became one of the leading players in AC Milan’s summer transfer market after they won the Scudetto title. De Ketelaere joined from Club Brugge for over €30 million, but his first season with the Rossoneri was not so bright, and he failed to find the net.
Now, De Ketelaere is enjoying a new experience with Atalanta after being on loan for one season with an option to buy. He immediately scored on his debut and recently provided his first assist in his team’s 3-0 win over Monza.
After the match, Gasperini spoke about how he integrated players like Gianluca Scamacca and Charles De Ketelaere into his team.
“For me it’s important to know them as well and get them to play. They have the conditions to play, and I am pleased with their performance tonight,” he said via Radio Rossonera.
“In addition, there are other factors that must be considered. Maybe Atalanta will play differently this year. We had chances to lift the ball against a tight-knit team. We have a few other variables.”
Gasperini also gave his appreciation to Charles De Ketelaere, saying, “Last year, De Ketelaere was hunted by half of Europe. This does not mean Milan made a mistake in recruiting him. He had a difficult season but now he is here with a strong coach and a big club.
“At Atalanta, he will have maximum confidence, because we have great faith in him.” closed Gasperini.
