Accompanied by the Minister of Communications, Javier Maldonado, the Minister of Education, Claudia Ruiz, and local council authorities, President Alejandro Giammattei participated this day in an activity related to the renovation of the Mixed Rural Official Primary School of the Joya Grande village , Zaragoza, Chimaltenango. In his speech, the president referred to the issue of vaccination and the importance of losing their fear of vaccines. In addition, he announced that in the coming weeks the vaccination process for those over 18 years of age will begin.

According to the President, the challenges that Guatemala faces are many and the pandemic is one of them.

“I want to invite you to get vaccinated, to lose the fear of getting the vaccine. Today we are about to reach 1,300,000 people with the two doses and we have 3,700,000 with the first dose, “he said.

In addition, he assured that there are “enough vaccines” to continue vaccinating all those over 25 years of age. In this context, he announced that, in the coming weeks, with the batch of vaccines that they are acquiring, they hope to be able to open vaccination for people over 18 years of age.

“There is no excuse not to get vaccinated, getting vaccinated means preserving life, it does not mean preventing contagion, because it can even give a person who has the vaccines, but it will give mild, it will give soft, it will not end. in the hospital and he is not going to die ”, emphasized the official.

Although Giammattei did not mention the brand of vaccines that are being purchased, days ago he announced that 4 million doses would be purchased with the pharmaceutical AstraZeneca. The Ministry of Health was consulted on the details of this contract, although at the end of this note no response was obtained.
