With its online brand “HUGOversichert.de”, GHV Versicherung focuses on a special approach to customers for insurance solutions for everything to do with animals: the dog “Hugo” does not address the pet owner, but the animal. Cat “Gabi” is also available to advise as a digital assistant in the chatbot.

GHV Versicherung is continuing on its way to more digitization. With the brand specially designed for the online world “HUGOversichert.de“Germany’s oldest animal insurer wants to take off as a provider of digital products. Visitors to the hugoversichert.de portal are approached from a new perspective by the dog “Hugo” and accompanied through the “sales talk” at every step. In the chatbot, the cat “Gabi” supports customers as a digital assistant. Hugo and Gabi represent the insurance solutions offered for dogs and cats. In addition to animal surgery and animal health insurance, the portfolio also includes animal owner liability insurance and accident protection for the animal owner with additional benefits for the animal.
“Simple and individually tailored insurance benefits should not only be part of the marketing strategy, but must be completely geared towards customer needs,” emphasizes Hans-Gerd Coenen, CEO of GHV Versicherung. In his estimation, customers today would expect lean online processes and flexible insurance protection from an insurer. Coenen does not see the future of GHV and the entire insurance industry in the pure sale of insurance solutions, but in target-group-oriented, entertaining customer approaches, individual offers and simple digital processes.
In addition, GHV wants to advance the digitization of animal health and has recently been involved in the Hessian start-up Tiegoo. The company offers a digital animal health platform that aims to network pet owners, insurers, veterinarians and therapists (AssCompact reported). (tk)
