Ghosts N Goblins will return to haunt Switch gamers’ nightmares

The announcements of Games Awards 2020 may have revealed some funny surprises: a fighter we weren’t really expecting for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but also a return of a forgotten franchise from home Capcom. Indeed, the Japanese publisher has unveiled that the 2D action / platform game Ghosts N Goblins would be reinvented for the Nintendo Switch, in an opus which will be called quite simply Ghosts ’n Goblins Resurrection. The title will remain in 2D, but will be decked out with an artistic direction that wants “pay homage to medieval style“, But which, let’s be honest, mostly looks like a failed way of imitating the engine UbiArt Framework.

It remains to be seen if the return of this franchise will be the occasion for Capcom to make it more accessible to players who have not known it in the arcade room: indeed, Ghosts N Goblins remains well known for its difficulty beyond comprehension and overcoming the nerves of the most seasoned players. We’ll be judging all of this on paper when it comes out, either on 25 February 2021 the most masochistic among you will therefore not have to wait too long.

Capcom also took the opportunity to reveal the release Switch from Capcom Arcade Stadium, a compilation which, as its name suggests, will bring together the greatest arcade hits of the firm (note the significant presence of Section Z, Bionic Commando and 1942): it will be free, but access to certain titles will be chargeable. So let’s wait to know more about this before shouting for the good deal.
