“Ghosted: The Action Rom-Com You Didn’t Know You Needed”

In the world of gaming, it’s important to know what games are worth investing your time and money into. That’s where video game reviews come in. But what happens when those reviews suddenly disappear? That’s where the concept of “ghosted reviews” comes in to play. Ghosted reviews are reviews that are removed or taken down without any explanation. IGN, one of the largest video game review websites, has recently come under fire for removing several reviews without communicating the reasoning behind the decision. In this article, we will explore the controversy surrounding ghosted reviews on IGN and the impact it has on both gamers and the gaming industry.

Ghosted, the latest movie to join Apple TV+, is a silly yet fun action rom-com. Directed by Dexter Fletcher and titled after the modern dating phenomenon of ghosting, the movie follows the love story of Cole Turner (played by Chris Evans), a farm boy, and Sadie Rhodes (Ana de Armas), an art curator. While it never strays too far from the classic rom-com formula, it still manages to be enjoyable and entertaining.

The movie opens with Cole on a magical date with Sadie, who he instantly falls for. Their chemistry is palpable, and Evans shines as the hopeless romantic who will do anything for love – including flying to London on a whim to surprise Sadie. Armas, on the other hand, is fierce and tactical, revealing her special agent status to a dumbstruck Cole early in the movie. From there on out, the movie is a fun ride of country-hopping, vehicle chase sequences, and double-crossing, with the focus always on the budding romance between Cole and Sadie.

While the movie does feature overused rom-com cliches, it also tinkers with them in an enjoyable way. Cole eschews the typical rom-com male trope of being emotionally unavailable, and it’s up to Sadie to thaw his frozen heart. The screenwriters – Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers – attempt to provide newer representations of rom-com excitement, but the gender-role flip is as far as they get. There’s also a healthy dose of action, with plenty of windmill fights and shootouts, but the movie never takes itself too seriously.

One of the movie’s weaker points is its attempt to string along Cole’s civilian participation in an international espionage operation for almost two hours. While Fletcher does a good job of navigating heartfelt conversations as cleanly as shoot-outs in twirling, tower-top restaurants, the “will they, won’t they” drama can feel like it’s going through the motions. It’s clear that the movie is building up to a happy ending, so there’s no real question of whether or not Cole and Sadie will end up together.

The supporting performances in the movie are decent enough, with Adrien Brody as a scumbag arms dealer and Amy Sedaris as Cole’s kooky mother. The fight sequences are serviceable, if not breathtaking. The movie’s scattered moments miss a top-tier romantic comedy’s spark, but it still manages to be an entertaining watch. The writers do a lot of “telling, not showing” to spell out how in love Cole and Sadie are, which can be frustrating at times, but overall the movie is worth a few smirks and chuckles.

There are some fun nods to other movies in Ghosted, including Evans interacting with familiar actors from his past and callbacks to shared lines. While the plot may be farfetched, it’s a charming and enjoyable watch that’s perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Fans of classic rom-coms like This Means War or The Bounty Hunter will find plenty to enjoy in Ghosted.

In conclusion, Ghosted Review is a new and innovative way to approach video game reviews. By removing the personal bias of the reviewer, it aims to provide a fair and accurate assessment of a game’s merits. While some may argue that the human element is necessary in the reviewing process, it’s hard to deny the potential for Ghosted Review to revolutionize the industry. Only time will tell if this approach will become the norm, but for now, it’s certainly an interesting concept worth exploring. As always, IGN will continue to bring you the latest news and reviews in the gaming world. So, stay tuned for more updates on this topic and others.
