Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is less than a month away. The overhaul of the samurai game comes to both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on August 20, and offers, among other things, a completely new story about protagonist Jin Sakai.
It is this expansion, called Iki Island, that is in focus in the latest trailer for Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut. The video – which you will find in the video window above – gives a taste of Iki Island, as well as the enemies you encounter and the story you get to experience.
Again, it is Mongol forces that must be fought, this time under the leadership of a mysterious figure called “The Eagle”. Developer Sucker Punch tells also that the plot deals with a dark chapter from Jin’s past, but that the theme of the expansion is first and foremost «healing».
– With everything that has happened in the last year, it is no coincidence that we wanted to tell a story about healing. And we felt this would present a unique and gripping challenge for Jin, hints game writer Patrick Downs.
Next to Iki Island, Ghost of Tsushima’s Director’s Cut entices with more news, such as a “lock-on” feature in combat and the ability to change the controller layout. The PlayStation 5 version also gets a bunch of exclusive features, including Japanese “lip synch”, 4K resolution and 60 frames per second and support for the DualSense controller.
Upgrading and transferring storage files
For those who own the original game, Sony has also announced a couple of upgrade options.
For $ 20 – about $ 170 – you can upgrade to Director’s Cut on PlayStation 4. If you want to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version, it costs you $ 30. Director’s Cut on PlayStation 4 can also be upgraded to the PlayStation 5 variant for $ 10.
Those who choose to switch to PlayStation 5 can transfer storage files, and continue exactly where they left off, the developer explains.
