It was no secret that Sucker Punch Productions they make a sequel to the successful action adventure Ghost of Tsushima. However, the form or content of the game remained hidden until now. The game was officially announced at the State of Play event Ghost of Yoteiwhich is an ideological follow-up to the original title, but will tell its own story.
We look at another time, another place and with another hero. A heroine, respectively. She will become the titular spirit of the area around Mount Yotei on the island of Hokkaido. The story of the novel is set more than three hundred years after the events of the first game.
“In 1603, this area was outside of Japanese rule and full of vast grasslands, snowy tundra, and unexpected dangers. It is very different from the organized samurai clans that lived in Tsushima,” they attract developers.
“At Sucker Punch, we love the concept of an origin story and wanted to explore what a new hero in the Ghost mask could bring and reveal a new legend,” they further explain. They add that Ghost of Yotei will be their first PlayStation 5-only game, so they want to take advantage of its strengths.
Ghost of Yotei is due to arrive at PlayStation 5 already next year.
