As it seems now, touch wood, then we will go on tour. We won’t release an album until we find out. we are going on tour. The release of the album will coincide with the start of a tour. Of course, we could announce an album release date and then for some reason it might not be possible to tour, but that’s a whole other matter. ”

In March 2020, during the final exhibition of GHOST‘s “Prequel” touring in Mexico City, Mexico, the band officially presented Papa Emeritus IV, the new character who will be at the head of the act for his next phase of LP.

Forger played like a “new” Dad emeritus on each of the group’s first three LPs, with each version of Papa replace the one that preceded it. Papa Emeritus III has been withdrawn in favor of Cardinal Copia before the release of 2018 “Prequel” album.

In October 2019, Forger confirmed in UK Kerrang ! magazine that there would be a new character GHOST by the time the group’s next LP will be released.

“Prequel” debuted at No.3 on the Billboard 200 and featured the chart-topping singles “The rats” and “Dance of Death”.

In December 2018, GHOST caught two Grammy nominations, “Best rock album” for “Prequel” and “Best Rock Song” for “The rats”.

Five years ago, GHOST became the first Swedish rock band to win a Grammy – “Best metal performance” of 2016 for the song “Cirice”.

VOLBEAT guitarist / singer Michael Poulsen spoke to 94.9 The Rock Toronto radio station on the band’s recently released songs “Wait a minute my girl” and “Days Ahead”. The two tracks, VOLBEATthe first new music from since the 2019 album “Flip, Replay, Bounce”, were recorded as the world was stranded during the pandemic. Poulsen, Jon Larsen (battery) and Kaspar Boye Larsen (bass) recorded their parts with the longtime producer Jacob Hansen in Denmark, while Rob Caggiano (guitar) was working remotely from New York.

“[‘Wait A Minute My Girl’ is] pretty much an old song I wrote a long time ago; i just didn’t finish it [until last year], ” Michael revealed. “That doesn’t say much about the upcoming album, which will be released later this year. Because the upcoming album is probably the heaviest record we’ve ever made. There are a lot of heavy riffs, like the old ones BLACK SABBATH, early METALLIC, even death metal in there. But these two singles that we released, they don’t really represent the album. But this track ‘Wait a minute girl’ is a pure rocker. It’s very inspired by Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, RAMONES – that sort of thing combined. And it was just one of those songs that made sense to release in the summer because everyone was waiting for something new, something positive. Everyone stayed home because of COVID and everything. So we thought this track would be a good idea to release. It’s positive. It has all those summery colors that you need to be in a good mood. It sort of represents VOLBEAT in that 50s-60s element where you can certainly hear the Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, RAMONES inspiration. And it’s just a feel good song. And I feel great about it. I am very proud of it. But, like I said, that doesn’t really represent the full album, because the full album is definitely the heaviest album we’ve ever made. And this song is more like a 50s pop-rock, rock and roll tune with punk elements. ”

He later added: “[‘Wait A Minute My Girl’] is just one of the tracks from the new album that just sheds some light. But there will be a lot of thunder and lightning for the rest of the material. There are a few upbeat, straightforward rock and roll songs, but I’d say probably 85% of the new album – which has been done since December, actually – it’s pretty heavy. “

In an interview with Brazilian music journalist Igor Miranda, VOLBEAT drummer Jon Larsen we asked him if there was any truth to PoulsenThe previous claim by, that the band’s new material was shaping up to be more aggressive and more thrash-oriented than the last two LPs. He replied, “Well, it’s definitely heavier – let me put it that way. I wouldn’t really call him more aggressive. It might be – I’m not really sure – but it definitely has a bit of the old vintage VOLBEAT heavy items to it. There are definitely some really heavy songs on it. Yeah, there could be a bit of thrash on that too – maybe even a little Swedish death metal adventure. A little yes. Don’t be too scared, however. But, yeah, I think it’s a very mixed album, because you definitely have the heaviest sound. We always have the happiest songs, punk, maybe even pop, if you want to call it that. And there are also, I think, a few surprises in there that will sure make people say, “Okay, I didn’t see that coming.” But, yeah, I think he’s definitely got a mix of everything we’ve done so far. And the vibe of the album, I think it sounds maybe more spontaneous this time, maybe. And he certainly has a few nods and nods to our past. But, yes, “heavy” is probably the right word for it. ”

“Wait a minute my girl” includes a saxophonist Doug Corcoran and pianist Raynier Jacob Jacildo, who both play with JD McPherson‘s band and has already played with VOLBEAT over the years 2019 “Die to live (feat. Neil Fallon)”. Singer My Maja, who has been working with the group since “Seal the Deal & Let’s Boogie”, also appears on the choirs. “Days Ahead” features guest voices of a Danish artist Stine Bramsen, who is known for her solo work as well as being a member of the band ALPHABEAT. The song, in the tradition of “The tale of the garden”, “Maybe I Hofteholder” and “For Evigt”, contains lyrics in English and Danish, and marks the first released song that features Stine sing in her native Danish.
