Shortly after the moment that Peter R. de Vries was shot on the street in Amsterdam, bystanders were not only shocked but also happy. That’s what journalist and presenter Danny Ghosen, who was on site, said in the RTL 4 talk show Humberto. According to him, it was about “young people from the street” who also shouted that De Vries’ colleague John van den Heuvel would be “the next”.

“I live close by actually, I ran there,” Ghosen said of the incident. He said he saw “a lot of people who are really shocked”. “Unfortunately I have to say that some people were also happy that it has been cleaned up. Some people shouted: ‘John van den Heuvel is next’.”
Ghosen didn’t know what he was hearing. “Then you think: ‘what are you saying, dude?’. I still have to recover.”
“There was an atmosphere of sadness, many disaster tourists too, but also people who thought it was all fine.”
De Vries was shot shortly after the broadcast of RTL Boulevard, where he was a guest.
