The matter of the recent uproar in the Ghaziabad District Court of Uttar Pradesh has reached the National Human Rights Commission. During the court proceedings, the District Judge has complained to the National Human Rights Commission regarding calling the police and lathicharge on innocent advocates.

Human rights activist Advocate Vishnu Kumar Gupta said that even a lawyer has his own dignity. He is an officer of the court. This incident has violated the rights, honor and dignity of the advocates.

Kicking, punching and lathi charge on the advocates by the police in a crowded court is an attack on the autonomy of the advocates and in this way the advocates will not be able to do their work independently. Therefore, a petition has been filed by him in the National Human Rights Commission.

In which a request has been made to order the Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Government that the above type of incident should not be repeated in future and the advocates can do their judicial work in the court room without any hindrance.

Rules and regulations should be created for the civil police and other police forces of the state and presented before the Honorable Commission within a week. The state government should give compensation of Rs 10 lakh to each advocate injured in the incident. The injured advocates should be provided free treatment by the state government in a reputed hospital under social justice.
