Several testing and vaccination locations will close in the afternoon in the coming days due to the predicted high temperatures. A single location will close completely.

GGD Drenthe, GGD Zaanstreek-Waterland, GGD Gelderland-Midden, GGD Brabant-Zuidoost, GGD Rotterdam-Rijnmond and GGD Utrecht region work with adjusted opening hours in the first half of the week. They close after noon.

In the Utrecht region, a number of test and vaccination locations will close completely for one or more days as a precaution. “The heat makes it too hot at those locations, for visitors and employees,” reports the GGD.

Drenthe is moving appointments scheduled from Monday to Wednesday in the afternoon to another date. GGD Gelderland-Midden also warns that some fixed locations are closing earlier than usual. “Because overheating and sensible vaccination do not go together.” Several GGDs advise visitors who do come for a corona test or vaccination to bring sunscreen and sufficient water.

More testers
The most recent weekly figures from the RIVM showed that more people were tested at a GGD location last week. The number of testers rose nationally from 48,117 to 52,915 people.

Last week it became clear that the BA.2.75 variant of the coronavirus, also called centaurus, has also appeared in the Netherlands. Little is known about BA.2.75. The variant, which may be more contagious than omikron predecessors, has already been identified on a slightly larger scale in India. It has also been found in Australia, Japan, Canada, the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom.
