Zeeland – The flu season is upon us. In addition, we are still dealing with an increase in the number of corona infections, which means that more people have health problems. A simultaneous outbreak of both viruses can have major consequences for the continuity of care in the province. That is why GGD Zeeland makes it possible for informal carers who do not receive a call from the GP (because they are younger than sixty years and do not belong to a risk group) to take the flu shot free of charge.
As an informal caregiver you cannot use a flu
Informal caregivers are indispensable to those they care for and the flu is always bad. Even if they normally do not suffer much from the flu themselves, informal caregivers can inadvertently transmit the virus to the person they care for. GGD Zeeland, in collaboration with the Zeeland Safety Region and a large number of Zeeland care institutions, is therefore making the flu vaccination available on a large scale for the first time this year for informal caregivers up to the age of 60 who do not receive a regular call from their GP.
Increase flu vaccination rate
Making the injection available to informal carers is part of a larger campaign to increase the flu vaccination rate in Zeeland. In addition to informal carers, the Zeeland care personnel also form an important target group.
Register via ggdzeeland.nl/griepprik
Informal caregivers can get the flu shot for free from 16 November by registering on www.ggdzeeland.nl/griepprik. The more Zeeland carers opt for the flu shot, the greater the chance that we will get through the winter together in a healthy way. GGD Zeeland, together with the cooperation partners, makes every effort to organize an easy injection opportunity close to home for everyone who registers and will inform the registered carers about this as soon as possible.
