More than 15,000 vaccinations were administered in the province of Groningen in the past week. This is evident from the weekly update of the GGD.
Since last Wednesday, 15,491 shots have been taken in Groningen. “Of these, 1,350 are booster shots and almost 11,900 repeat shots,” writes the GGD. Since the start of the corona vaccination, 1,210,394 vaccinations have been administered in Groningen so far. More than 291,500 of these are booster shots. All vaccinations are available without an appointment.

Since last Wednesday, 5,408 people have tested positive for the corona virus in the province of Groningen. “The number of infections has fallen sharply compared to the week before, when 9,921 infections were detected. The infection rate in our region is 921 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which is above the national average of 739 per 100,000 inhabitants. The number of hospital admissions has decreased to 92 per 1,000,000 inhabitants, from 110.7.” Since the start of the corona pandemic, 243,131 people have been diagnosed with a corona infection.
Age distribution
The age distribution of people with a new infection has small shifts compared to last week. In the group 0 to 14 years, the infection rate is 6%, last week it was 7%. In the group of 15 to 19 years this is 4%, last week 5%. An increase can be seen in the group aged 20 to 29. Last week it was 16%, now it is 17%. In the category 30 to 65 years also an increase from 54% to 55%. In the group older than 65 an increase from 18% to 19%.
Development
In the past week, most new infections were found in the municipality of Veendam. There it was 1,324 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. In the municipality of Het Hogeland, there were 1,158 new infections, Stadskanaal 1,121 and Westerkwartier 1,117.

Since last Wednesday, 9,095 people have been tested at the GGD locations in the province of Groningen. Of them, 5,699 were found to be positive. That brings the find rate to 62.7%. The number of tests taken has fallen sharply. Last week, 14,651 tests were taken, of which 9,834 turned out to be positive. The find percentage was also 67.1% at the time.
