Starting next week, the GGD will adjust its method for source and contact research. The emphasis will be more on finding the source.
People who have been fully vaccinated and who appear in the source and contact research of the GGD no longer need to be quarantined. The new method focuses less on the contacts and more on finding the source. In practice, this means that the GGD will investigate places where an infected person has been. There, targeted measures are then taken to prevent an outbreak from spreading.
“We still expect a lot of large outbreaks, especially in groups that have been partially or not vaccinated,” says an infectious disease control doctor from the GGD. “This is especially a problem for young people. They have more contacts and many of them have not yet been fully vaccinated. It can then go quickly.”
