Getting to Know the Phases of the Early New Moon, the Phenomenon that Happens Today (January 10, 2022)

KONTAN.CO.ID – Get to know the phases of the early new moon, an astronomical phenomenon that occurs today (January 10, 2022). The early new moon phase is one of the phases of the Moon when the configuration between the Sun, Earth, and Moon forms a right angle (90˚) and occurs before the full Moon phase.

Starting the 2nd week of January 2022, there are a handful of astronomical phenomena that occur this week. This phenomenon occurred early this morning at around 01.11 WIB from the east.

The astronomical phenomenon referred to this time is related to the Moon.

As we know, the Moon is the only natural satellite of the Earth and is the fifth largest natural satellite in the Solar System. The moon revolves around the Earth once every 27.3 days (sidereal period).

However, because the Earth moves in its orbit around the Sun at the same time, it takes a little longer for the Moon to show the same phase to Earth, which is about 29.5 days (synodic period).

Talking about the phases of the Moon, it is currently entering its early neem phase. What’s that? Let’s get to know the phases of the early new moon.

Getting to Know the Phases of the Early New Moon

Excerpted from the official page of EIGHT (edukasi.sains.lapan.go.id), the early new phase is one of the phases of the Moon when the configuration of the Sun, Earth and Moon forms a right angle (90˚) and occurs before the full moon phase.

The peak of the early new phase occurred at 01.11.19 WIT/ 02.11.19 WITA/ 13.11. WIT. This early new moon can be seen since it rises at noon from the east, culminates in the north after sunset and then sets in the west after midnight.

The moon will be at a distance of 394,466 km from Earth during the peak of its early tidal phase and will be in the vicinity of the constellation Pisces.

Back to discussing the phases of the Moon. There are basically five phases of the moon, namely:

  1. New month (new moon)
  2. The first crescent (waxing crescent)
  3. The first quarter (first quarter)
  4. Full moon (full moon)
  5. third quarter (third quarter)

Of the many phases of the moon that occur, the initial nebulizer described earlier occurred before the full moon phase. In this phase, it shows a bright half moon.

In one Synodic month (period of revolution of the Moon relative to the Sun), successive changes of phases take place as follows:

  1. New month
  2. Crescent
  3. Repair early
  4. Convex
  5. full moon
  6. Convex
  7. Final bandage
  8. Crescent

After all these phases have passed, it will return to the new Moon.
