MOSCOW – Armed Forces Russia successfully conducted the first test launch of a Zircon hypersonic missile from a nuclear-powered submarine. The missile was fired at a target in the Barents Sea, north of the Russian Arctic.

The Russian Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) released a video showing the successful test. The video was released RT.com in a report on Monday (4/10/2021).

The Zircon was first produced in 2016. It is an anti-ship missile capable of accelerating up to Mach 9 speed.
