The digital insurance provider Getsafe is expanding its range to include a vehicle product. With the first car insurance system that has been consistently optimized for the smartphone, Getsafe is aimed at a target group with a digital affinity. The claim: insurance that is fun and that everyone understands.
“With a premium of almost 30 billion euros, car insurance is one of the largest insurance lines in Germany. But a milestone for us, because we now have one of the most important property insurances in our portfolio. With the Getsafe app, customers always have their vehicle protection with them. Car insurance has never been easier, ”says Christian Wiens, CEO and founder of Getsafe.
The special thing: Getsafe developed the product together with its customers. In addition to personal discussions and surveys, direct feedback from the app was also incorporated into the product design. “Being so close to your customers is extraordinary for insurance companies and motivates us,” explains Christian Wiens.
When it comes to car insurance, three points kept cropping up: easy operation via app, flexibility and stable prices. “We are proud to have implemented these points perfectly with our vehicle product,” says Wiens. The new car insurance offers cover that can be canceled on a daily basis and, among other things, thanks to the lack of intermediaries, it is affordable. With just a few clicks, customers can take out the policy on their smartphone, report a claim and manage their insurance coverage in real time. The highly technological approach lays the foundation for analyzing, recognizing and avoiding accidents and dangerous driving behavior at an early stage with millions of anonymised smartphone data. In addition: after an accident, the premium remains low; accident-free years are rewarded; and car owners can insure up to five additional drivers free of charge.
For vehicle insurance, Getsafe cooperates with iptiQ, Swiss Re’s B2B2C white label insurer. Christian Wiens is convinced: “Together we have completely new thought and developed car insurance on a blank sheet of paper for smartphone-savvy customers.”
In the future, Getsafe wants to promote new products and services for customers even faster. To this end, in February 2020 the company applied for a license for property and casualty insurance from the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). Christian Wiens emphasizes: “We want to inspire people with a digital customer experience and surprise them positively. The innovations we have seen in the insurance market so far are just the beginning. We still have big plans and want to make mobile insurance the standard across Europe. ”
