Premiere week Spanish League 2023/2024 meet Getafe with Barcelona. The match took place at Coliseum Alfonso Perez, Monday (14/8/2023) in the morning WIB.
Barcelona appeared dominant throughout the 2×45 minutes. The defending LaLiga champions recorded 14 shots (4 on target) and 75 percent possession, ahead of Getafe who could only make 5 attempted shots (2 on target).
Even so, Barcelona failed to penetrate the tight defense Getafe until the long whistle sounds. The home team managed to hold on to a draw Blaugrana 0-0.
The match heated up when Raphinha was sent off by the referee in the 43rd minute for elbowing Gaston Alvarez. Getafe also played with 10 men after Jaime Mata received a second yellow card in the 57th minute for tackling Ronald Araujo.
In total there were 6 yellow cards for Getafe and 2 yellow cards for Barcelona. Barça coach, Xavi Hernandezeven got a red card because of excessive protests to the referee.
Xavi spoke about the red card he received. He protested because the fair interpreter allowed violations to occur against his players.
“I said they allowed too many fouls. That’s why he took me off,” said Xavi, quoted from Football Espana.
“There is nothing more to say. I have made comments in the past and they have banned me from it,” he explained.
Red card received Xavi Hernandez long tail. He is threatened with sanctions ban accompanying Barcelona in two competitions.
