GETAFE, 26 Dec. (PRESS EUROPE) –
The Getafe Hospital Biomedical Research Foundation is looking for people over 50 who want to participate in the research study of a pneumococcal vaccine.
Therefore, they pointed out that pneumococcal diseases are caused by certain germs (bacteria), which can cause serious ear, nose, lung, blood or brain infections.
So vaccines help the body fight infections from diseases like pneumococcus and can help prevent serious disease, but new vaccines need to be tested to prove they work.
In the STRIDE-10 study, an investigational vaccine (V116) is being tested to see if it can help protect against pneumococcal disease.
This study is evaluating V116 in adults who have not previously received a pneumococcal vaccine and will compare V116 to Pneumovax23 (tricosavalent pneumococcal vaccine), which is approved in Spain to prevent pneumococcal disease.
In this study, you will evaluate the safety of V116 and see how well the vaccine works and how your body responds to it, although you must not have received any previous pneumococcal vaccine or not have a positive result in a test to participate in the study. for pneumococcal disease within the past three years, among other requirements.
Study-related vaccines and tests will be provided free of charge, and study trips and related expenses may also be reimbursed.
From the Getafe Hospital Foundation, study leaders are sent for more information, including the possible risks and benefits of participation.
