The team revealed that not everyone can have the same sleep duration and that is normal. But usually, adults need seven to nine hours of sleep each night.
So, no matter how hard you convince yourself that four hours of sleep is enough, here are the consequences that could potentially arise when lack of sleep.
1. Brain and body function
Lack of sleep is considered to affect the function of the brain and body to work properly. When a person has less sleep, the body will need more energy to carry out its activities during the day.
“You will try harder to stay awake during the day. It can interfere with concentration, attention, thinking skills, taking actions that may be risky, and how you react to things,” says Tim.

3. Productivity rate
The team explains that even though four hours of sleep doesn’t mean you’re sleep deprived, it will still affect a person’s level of productivity and bodily function.
“For most of us, four hours of sleep per night is not enough to wake up feeling well rested and able to” aware mentally. Lack of sleep can lead to health problems, including impaired memory, lack of alertness, and irritability,” says Tim.
4. Increase the risk of disease
Lack of sleep is also considered to increase the risk of developing high blood pressure, diabetes, and coronary heart disease. This is because seven to nine hours of sleep at night is strongly associated with cognitive function of the body.
“That applies to all adults, regardless of age. Rest is important, not only affects your brain, but also increases the risk of these diseases,” said Tim.
